In the book of Luke angles appear and announce the two important births.  First when an angel appears to Zachariah to inform him that he will have a son, John the Baptist. The earlier settlers in Texas had a strong belief of God.  These folks lived in a time without the many distractions we have today.  In many cases the only book they owned was a Bible.
